Name a significant surf ski race in South Africa and odds are not just that Herman Chalupsky has won it multiple times but that he set or still holds the course record. Considered one of South Africa's best surf lifesavers of all time, Herman won his first Molokai title in 1995 (crossing the line with older brother Oscar) and won again outright in 2004, winning by more than seven minutes.
Despite setting course records at The Cape Point Challenge, Scottburgh to Brighton (double ski), and the Dolphin Coast Challenge, winning three international ski races in Tahiti, or taking home the $20,000 first prize at the World Sea Kayaking Champs in Quebec, Canada, Chalupsky is most proud of the fact that he downed ten Hansa Pilsners in 30 minutes after winning the Mayor's Cup around Manhattan in 2007.
