New Line of Race Kayaks Introduced at ICF World Championships.

New Line of Race Kayaks Introduced at ICF World Championships.
Seven cutting edge new kayak designs were approved for competition by the International Canoe Federation at the World Championships in Duisburg Germany - 4 K-1 and 3 K-2 designs from the new Epic Legacy Series. Ted Van Dusen and Greg Barton have collaborated over the past 12 months to develop a new series of super-efficient hull shapes.

Ted Van Dusen Ph.D. is the world’s most talented designer of flatwater racing kayaks. To the Legacy project Van Dusen brings his years of design experience and degrees in Naval Architecture and Mechanical & Ocean Engineering from Webb Institute Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Massachusetts.

Barton & Van Dusen first joined forces in 1987 when Ted designed a new K-1 the Eagle. The Eagle was an instant hit and that year quickly won multiple gold medals in the Pan American Games and World Championships. The following year Greg paddled Van Dusen boats to win Olympic Gold Medals in the K-1 and K-2 events. Van Dusen kayaks continued to dominate international competition through the 90’s.

Now Van Dusen uses new drag calculations and tow-tank test data to advance the cutting-edge Legacy series designs.  These ICF racing kayaks optimally meet all design specifications as well as racer expectations for finish and outfitting – including fully adjustable foot braces & seats and moveable steering t-bar.

Legacy K-1’s and K-2’s are available in Performance Ultra and Marathon (extremely lightweight) constructions with models to fit a variety of racers.
