Greg Barton nominated for U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame

Greg Barton is a three-time U.S. Olympian, who earned four Olympic medals to become the most decorated American Kayaker of all time. Barton became the first American to win a gold medal in kayaking at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, paddling with partner Norm Bellingham. He earned a second gold as an individual the same year. Barton took home bronze medals at the 1984 and 1992 games. Barton was the winner of more than 50 U.S. National Championship Titles and won four World Championship titles in 1985, 1987, and 1992.. He was selected as one of the “100 Golden Olympians” at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Not only is Barton an outstanding athlete, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan in 1983 with a degree in mechanical engineering and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2007.
