European ICF Championships 2009

Gönczy Gábor & Kökény Roland of Hungary took second place in the men’s K2 1000 meter last week at the European ICF Champs. We were delighted to hear that there were comments coming from the crowd as the duo moved up through the field during the race: “What boat are they racing in?”

Starting easy off the line, Gábor and Roland were in 4th place at the 250m mark. As the race unfolded they made their push to the front and crossed the line in 2nd, missing the win by a mere 0.2 of a second!

As a team Gábor and Roland have been paddling the Legacy K2 ML for about a month, while Roland has also been training in a Legacy K1 L. Roland’s strength and experience combined with his partner’s youth and exuberance match up well and Epic is thrilled to have them paddling in our Legacy ICF line.
